STARTRIGHT NG BUSINESS VENTURES
CounselBill Privacy Policy
Effective 30 October 2026 · Version 1.0.1
What the app processes
CounselBill processes the chambers and client details you enter, service descriptions, fee assessments, billing documents, confirmed payments, adjustments and optional chambers logo. Use only information you are authorised to process. No app account is required.
Local records
Billing records are encrypted in the app's private device storage. The encryption key is held in Android Keystore. Android automatic app backup is disabled. Ordinary document preparation, calculations, record viewing and PDF previews operate offline. CounselBill does not automatically upload confidential documents or read your contacts, messages or bank account.
Purchases and verification
Google Play processes premium purchases under Google's terms and privacy practices. When configured, CounselBill sends the purchase token, app package/product identifier, a pseudonymous installation identifier and Play Integrity token to the developer's verification service over HTTPS. Google checks the purchase and app installation. The service returns a signed entitlement, valid offline for up to seven days. This transmission does not include chambers, client names or billing documents. Network providers necessarily process connection data such as IP addresses. The delivered pre-release build has no configured verification endpoint and does not transmit data to an app-operated backend. Premium checkout remains unavailable until secure verification is configured. Any activation will be accompanied by updated hosting and retention information before the new transmission begins.
Backups, exports and sharing
Encrypted backups use a password you choose. Keep that password securely; the developer cannot recover it. Basic JSON record exports and finished PDFs are unencrypted. Choose a secure destination. When you share, the selected application or recipient handles the information under its own practices. CounselBill never sends a reminder automatically.
Why information is used
Local information supports the billing tasks you request. Purchase verification supports delivery and protection of the purchased service. Your chambers is responsible for its lawful basis for processing client information, professional confidentiality and applicable record-retention duties. The developer does not receive local client records merely because the app is installed.
Retention and deletion
Local records remain until you delete them or uninstall the app. Use More > Backup and Restore to export or erase local records. Externally saved files and recipient copies are not erased by this control. Google may retain purchase records under its own legal and service obligations. Purchase ownership is not erased by local deletion. There is currently no active app-operated purchase-verification server and no server-side purchase-token database. Google and any application you choose for sharing apply their own retention practices.
Security and your choices
CounselBill uses authenticated encryption, private storage, secure sharing and optional device-credential access. Protect the device and backup password. No system eliminates all risk, especially on a compromised device. Preview and check all documents before sharing. There are no advertising or analytics SDKs in this build.
Your rights
Applicable Nigerian data-protection law provides rights to information, access, correction, portability and, where applicable, erasure, restriction, objection and withdrawal of consent. You can view, amend, export and delete local records within the app without premium purchase. For information held by your chambers, direct requests to that chambers. You may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission at https://ndpc.gov.ng. Legal and professional retention duties may limit erasure.
Children and changes
CounselBill is intended for adult legal practitioners and is not directed at children. Update notices will identify material privacy changes before new practices are introduced.
Privacy and support contact
Contact Adaeze Emilia Mbakwe, StartRight NG Business Ventures, Nigeria, at adaezembakwe@adaezembakwe.com for privacy questions, rights requests and app support. Do not include confidential client documents unless specifically requested through an agreed secure channel. Email correspondence is retained as needed to resolve the request and meet applicable legal duties; request deletion when no longer needed.
Public privacy webpage
This policy is hosted as static HTML on Cloudflare Pages. Opening it discloses connection information, including your IP address and request metadata, to Cloudflare as hosting provider. The page has no forms, advertising, analytics scripts, tracking cookies or embedded third-party assets. The developer has not enabled application-level visitor logging or web analytics for this page. Cloudflare may process security and operational metadata under its own privacy policy, including outside Nigeria; its policy is available at https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/. Opening the webpage does not upload your local CounselBill records.
International processing
Local app records remain on your device unless you export or share them. Google purchase processing, Cloudflare webpage delivery and email support may involve processing outside Nigeria under the providers' service terms and safeguards. Before enabling a verification backend, the developer must document its processing arrangements and applicable Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 transfer safeguards. The current build does not send billing records to these providers.
Policy updates
The published policy describes this delivered build. A change enabling the purchase-verification service will identify the actual provider, data handling and retention before activation. The effective date will change when practices change.
